ICA Miami welcomes geographer and scholar Kathryn Yusoff to the Art + Research Center for a new lecture entitled “Geologies of Race: unearthing the ground.”

From Yusoff: “Geology is a discipline that explains the Earth through its codification of matter and time to posit racialized origin stories. It is world-making and future building. In the context of environmental change and the newly identified geologic epoch of the Anthropocene, Geologies of Race speculatively engages with surviving into a future beyond extraction and inundation.”

Kathryn Yusoff is Professor of Inhuman Geography in the School of Geography at Queen Mary University of London. Her research focuses on earth sciences, black feminist theory, geophilosophy and political aesthetics in the Anthropocene.
