Spring Semester 2018 at the Art + Research Center will build upon themes explored during the inaugural season by considering how emergent abstractions find concrete form in today’s ever-changing world. Seminars led by visiting faculty run March 5 through 28. The deadline to apply is February 27, 2018. Admission is free for those accepted into the program. ICA members, college students, and national and international artists and cultural producers are encouraged to apply, however space is limited. Visiting faculty includes designer and architect Germane Barnes, artist and writer Melanie Gilligan, psychoanalyst and curator Suely Rolnik, and arts researcher Antonia Majaca.

The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami’s Art + Research Center (A+RC) is the museum’s research department and graduate-level initiative dedicated to fostering a more robust and critical dialogue in the South Florida region and beyond. Three times per year as part of the A+RC initiative, ICA Miami develops thematic series of seminars and lectures, and commissions related texts that are made available as free online publications. Symposia and other programs, opening to the public, are also organized as part of the initiative, helping to further reinvigorate the public sphere in Miami and develop new generations of socially-minded cultural producers.
